Patty Melt @ Dan’s Diner

Went to this pop-up diner as part of the Melbourne Food & Wine Festival last summer. Sadly it’s gone now, but the festival does come every year with something new.

Wagyu Sampler @ Niku Ou

Tender and decadent, but having sampled wagyu of differing quality and origin in Japan, this does feel a little overpriced.

Flinders Street Station

A good view to sleep and wake up to from my hotel.

RoyAl’s at Northbridge

Used to live in Perth for a short time, and I remembered trying some really tasty burgers at a chain called RoyAl’s. Despite me not being very hungry, I had to pop in there for another bite after all these years. Safe to say, I wasn’t disappointed. The Honeycakes (Russian honey cakes, bought separately) are also worth buying if you’re in the area.

Cockatoo

There’s a whole herd of them up in Mount Dandenong, and while you’re not supposed to feed them, they are attracted to the sight of food.

Indoors 13 – Messina Cookie Pie

I remember going to Messina a few years ago and seeing one of their repeating videos showing this scrumptious looking chocolate chip cookie pie on screen. Combined with the smell of baking cookies in-store, I asked for one to go. Unfortunately, they told me that it was a limited-time offering and that the cookie smell was for a different ice cream flavor they’re making.

Imagine my excitement to see that they’re stocking the very same pies that I wanted years later, and giving a discount on ice cream to go with it! They’re here all winter, and if you’re in Australia, consider buying one plus a tub of ice cream for yourself! Vanilla is a sure-fire, but try some other flavors including their specials too.

Tea Time ft. Caviar

Caviar with a smoky tea pairing is certainly unique.
