I’m back in China, and you can bet I sprang for a dinner at Haidilao at the soonest possible moment. The welcome surprise of a special song and dance came with our order of “8 kinds of Inner Mongolian Lamb”. Entertainment aside, the lamb was very good, and the smell was not gamey at all. Service was very accommodating, noting the mostly non-Chinese speaking travel companions with me.
Despite it being technically “Spring”, the lamb shanks and polenta goes very well with the winter weather that isn’t letting up. They’re right next to Flinders Street Station, hence the name.
Lamb shanks – fall-off-the-bone!Burrata, Squid ink pasta and Steak.Cannoli with pistachio and mascarpone.New York-style cheesecake – the better dessert imo. They’re pretty open for walk-ins. Upscale but not stuffy.
