Fish Egg Croissant

For once, I actually didn’t try this.

Hai Yorokonde

When I first saw this, I initially thought it was the OP of some old seinen anime, like The Laughing Salesman. The lyrics and frustration of the song certainly felt at home in a seinen. Regardless, the song is both very catchy to listen to, and the MV is certainly worth a watch.

Cheeky Mountain Peeking

Strawberries on the Train

They’re delicious, but it’s admittedly harder to eat that beauty.

Japanese Meme Face

Chicken Nanban @ Bijin Nabe

Because it’s Indonesia, there’s a properly spicy variant (orange) of the tartar sauce. Taken at Bijin Nabe.

Omurice @ SMASH! Maid Cafe

Whilst I’ve been to many anime conventions, I have yet to set foot in a maid cafe, even in Japan. It’s definitely something to consider doing with friends of certain tastes, but I would never go alone. This pop-up was only for one weekend a year (as it’s an annual convention), but it’s likely going to be a mainstay at large anime conventions around the world, and of course there’s plenty of these in Akihabara.

Dinner @ Ton & Co.

Fried Chicken Bento

Due to a whole ordeal at check-in, rushing to the gate for boarding, refusal to buy overpriced meals on a budget airline, and a late night arrival, I didn’t get to eat a proper meal again for quite some time.

Breakfast at the Keiunkan

Given the hotel’s remote location, prestige and price to match, I’d be remiss if I didn’t show what they served for breakfast. Such a complete Japanese spread, and yes, there is rice cooking in the small pot towards the back.
