While Aoyama-san made other manga series, undoubtedly most would know him for Detective Conan. Series fans definitely must make a day trip to Conan Town, stroll up Conan-dori (and visit the eateries and shops alongside) and finish with a long visit to GAMF, full of attractions, replicas and memorabilia!

Hokuei in Tottori has really branded themselves around two major things: Detective Conan (Case Closed) and Watermelons – their local fruit speciality. Makes sense for the former since its renowned author, Gosho Aoyama, was born and raised there. The statues scattered around town are just one of the ways it rebranded around Conan – with Conan Road, Conan Bridge and even the town’s train station – Conan Station! The copper statues look weathered but solid, and the painted statues really look pristine!
