加油 → Jiā Yóu → Oil

To be frank, I’m not sure why this is a Word of the Day, but apparently the word for ‘Oil’ is also a term for ‘trying hard’, or ‘don’t give up’. I would say in nearly every inspirational Chinese movie, I’d hear this word at least once, and as I (among others) am going into exam season, I’d like to say 加油 to all of you participating in one.
