啤酒 → Pí Jiǔ → Beer

Since settling in China, I’ve found myself drinking considerably way more alcohol, particularly beer. Like most aspects of living in China, you need to also consider the legitimacy of beer, and be careful of counterfeits.

As I was told by a local bar, most of the beer circulating around the city are actually counterfeits, refilled bottles, or even coloured water or worse. Thankfully, legitimate bars put in place strong safeguards, but it uncanny that nearly 4 out of every 5 bottles of beer in this city are counterfeit. I’ll definitely keep my guard when taking a pint from now on.
