讨价还价 → Tǎo Jià Huán Jià → Bargain (haggle)
First weekend in China is coming, and as weekend entertainment goes, it is a doozy chaotic environment. One word came to my attention this week, and I feel like I’m going to need it for my first weekend alone. Bargaining has been a staple on Chinese trading, from the hawker’s market to even high-end shopping districts, which have labels saying not to bargain, but you can easily tell none are obeying them once you notice the calculator and the chatter.
Once again, it’s part of a new culture I’m learning during my time here. Time will tell if I’d fit in. Meanwhile, I’ll be enjoying my two-day break alone and see what I can do. 😉
